First Primary Policy: Social Democrats will build a just society and a world of freedom, equality and solidarity. It operates each merit their own and the common welfare. Fairness is the rights and responsibilities of balance and true freedom in a society in which carrying values of democracy and solidarity, solidarity.
History: SDP was founded in 1899 in Turku in Finland as the Labor Party. The current name was introduced in 1903 in Forssa, held a party after the meeting. The meeting adopted the first principle program, called Forssa program. In 1952, a new principle program. Next's principle was adopted in Helsinki in 1987 and now a valid Sosialidemokratian principles to the year 1999.
SDP has been the parliament's largest party, practically since 1906, when the workers' main demand: the parliamentary reform of general and equal voting rights basis. The majority party is five times the non-Social Democratic Party: 1948, 1962, 1991 and 2003 (the Agrarian / Center Party) and 1958 (SKDL). Term of three (1916-17, 1958-62, 1966-70) with the exception of parliament, has been a bourgeois majority.
Social Democratic Party's long-term support has been steady, albeit siiinä has happened in the fluctuations. In 1966 reached 27.2 percent share of support was considered "land-slide victory." Support has remained at 25 per cent since the 1970s.
